Regenerative Furnaces - Side Port (Cross-fired)

The regenerative side port furnace (also known as a cross-fired furnace) is primarily used for the upper capacity range applications, ie, 300 to 1000 metric tonnes per day as are encountered in the soda lime container and float glass applications.

Tecoglas regenerative furnaces are characterised by their fuel efficiency and low emissions, whilst producing high quality glass.

In some applications, bubbler systems are utilised to enhance convection flow patterns and to increase melter bottom temperature. Also, electric boost may be installed to increase the production rate for a given melter size or to reduce emissions or a combination of these needs. Electric boost can also be used to enhance glass quality.

Side-port furnaces are used for greater than 300 tpd applications which are typical for float glass and container industry applications. End-port furnaces are generally used in applications up to 300 tonnes per day.
